Christie & Jonathan wedding at Meols Hall, Southport

Christie & Jonathans Charming Wedding at Meols Hall, Tithebarn.

Not many wedding venues equal the charm of the Tithe Barn, Southport’s historical Manor House situated in the grounds of Meols Hall, Churchtown. Local craftsmen, using traditional methods have ensured the four hundred year old barn retains all its original features, but also includes a modern, fully equipped kitchen, bar facilities, superb lighting and sound system. The intimate ambience of the candlelit Tithe Barn will enchant all. It is an ideal venue for wedding receptions, blessings and civil ceremonies, the perfect setting for your once in a lifetime event.

Christie had opted for our Full day package so upon arrival at her family home we were greeted by her amazing family who were polite and inviting at all times. It wasn't long before we felt like part of the family due to their incredible hospitality. Whilst capturing hair and makeup for Christie, mum and bridesmaids there were plenty of stories being shared about the family dog, Jonathan as an alter boy etc it was just a really comforting place to be. It wasn’t long before we had to leave to capture Jonathan waiting at the Holy Trinity Church in Southport, the same church in which he was an alter boy all those years before. The church was stunning with a mezzanine in which Rebecca took advantage of to go up and capture some overhead shots. Plenty of lovely architectural details and it was filled with the family and friends of the bride and groom. The biggest and most amazing asset to the Church was Father Tom. We have shot many weddings at churches and some can be ….lets say not as understanding to our role, Father Tom on the other hand was brilliant he told us that we could position ourselves wherever we wanted with no issues. We always try to stay out of site as best as possible and avoid moving around but sometimes being glued to one fixed position can be troublesome and result in not getting the angles needed in the moment. Throughout the ceremony he was hilarious with a dry sense of humour but very cleverly executed. Laughter is a healer in my eyes and having that big bold character and personality in the church is amazing. So a big hats off to Father Tom and we do hope that we get the chance to work together again soon.

The ceremony itself was beautiful and you could see the love and joy that Christie and Jonathan brought each other. After the ceremony finished we took some confetti shots before heading over to the charming Meols Hall. As Rebecca is originally from Southport she had been before many a time and known the location well and ultimately knew what to expect, me on the other hand didn’t know what the venue had to offer and I have to say it became one of my favourite venues very quickly. The styling and warmth fits our vibe so well. The large courtyard was amazing and the sun was beaming all day so it meant we could move around outside capturing real moments without being obtrusive and allowing the guests to enjoy the day. The barn itself was dimly lit with small windows above the top table which made beautiful back lit images for the speeches. The speeches themselves were hilarious and a naughty joke from Christies dad had us both in fits of laughter! overall it was nice to listen to both Christie and Jonathans past, their uni days and how they met.

Shortly after wedding breakfast and speeches concluded we went off for a couple of group images and some relaxed couples images. On the walk back to the barn the bridesmaids, groomsmen close family and friends alongside Jonathan and Christie thought it would be a good idea as a group to do some funny poses whilst walking which made for some hilarious images and one in particular when one Jonathans groomsmen jumped on his back without prior warning and we genuinely thought it was going to end in a face plant to the floor for the pair haha but thankfully it didn’t and we caught an amazing moment of boys being boys! First dance was a short and sweet affair just a few seconds of slow dancing before everyone jumped in and partied like no tomorrow. This for us is a MUST! We love a dance floor that’s jam packed where everyone is enjoying themselves and 90% of the time there is a man doing something questionable with a glow stick.

Overall the day was amazing and we loved being part of it. We can only thank Christie and Jonathan for choosing Lux to capture their big day by providing them with amazing images and a friendly professional service. We wish nothing but a long and happy marriage to them both and as always you’re not just clients but lifetime friends!
